July 21, 2011 Public Outreach Event at Old Orchard Park

Staff would like to thank all of those that came out on July 21, 2011 to our first public outreach meeting for the Lyons Corridor Plan at Old Orchard Park. Staff heard many wonderful stories about the history of Lyons Avenue and the surrounding community along with receiving many constructive comments about the Lyons Corridor planning area. This interactive process helped staff identify both architectural styles and frontage types that the community believes is appropriate for the Lyons Corridor. The assessment of the built environment also provided useful information in identifying buildings and parcels that the community would like to see enhancements made. If you were unable to come to our first meeting and would still like to provide comments or feedback, please continue to use our blogging website. This is an ongoing and evolving processes and it is never too late to provide your feedback. Staff is currently working on securing a date and location in mid October of 2011 for our second outreach meeting. At this future meeting, interested patrons will be giving the opportunity to answer more questions through an interactive process.

Thank you for making such an effort to reach out to the community. It’s nice to know our local government is actually paying attention to the people that live here. I am a property owner of a lot immediately adjacent to one of the Lyons parcels and am keenly interested in how we’re moving forward with this project. Unfortunately, I was out of town for the July 21 event, but I am making a point of not missing the next one in October. By the way, what’s up with the colored dots? Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the comments Mike. The “dotes” were used to rate the current built environment, future development architectural styles and future frontage types. Red was disliked, green was liked and yellow was no opinion. We will place the results online in the upcoming weeks.
